Dedicated to the maritime history of Odisha and India, this is one of the major tourist attractions of Cuttack, which is located beautifully near the banks of river Mahanadi and stands on the site of the ancient Maritime Engineering Workshop that was established by the British in 1869.
A temple devoted to Goddess Chandi, the presiding deity, this ancient complex attracts devotees from all across the country, especially during the annual festivals of Durga Puja and Kali Puja. In fact, the City’s residents strongly believe Maa Katak Chandi as 'The Living Goddess'.
Located a few miles from Tangi, Cuttack, this historic place houses the Temple of Lord Jagannath, associated with the Kalki avatar of Lord Vishnu. Strangely, it is also believed here that a day will come when Lord Jagannath will leave his abode from Puri Temple and come to Chhatia Bata Dham.
A 13th-century fort built by the Ganga dynasty in Cuttack, this is a well known fort with carved gateway, and also one of the most sought-after tourist destinations of the City, located close to the famous Balijatra Ground, and near the Barabati Stadium. According to historians, Barabati Fort once housed a nine-storey palace.
Making up for a good and scenic weekend getaway from Cuttack, this is a 141 hectare horseshoe shaped fresh water lake on the left bank of the Mahanadi river, opposite Banki, and approximately 40kms from Cuttack. This largest freshwater lake in Odisha also offers spectacular views for a day trip or picnic with friends & family.
Considered to be the hub for Odisha’s famous Tarakasi silver filigree work, this is that part of the City where you can shop for excellent silver filigree designs and rich patterns, created on jewellery, neckpieces, earrings, anklets, vermillion boxes, home decor products and many other items. In fact, the entire beauty of exquisite silver filigree work can be witnessed during Durga Puja, when the idols and pandals are embellished with Tarakasi jewellery.
Dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva, this is also one of the major tourist attractions in Cuttack, which is located at a distance of around 27kms from the City, spectacularly situated in the exotic island of Lord Dhabaleshwar. Its serene ambience is what keeps attracting tourists to visit again and again.
Being one of the oldest places in Odisha dedicated to Shaktism, the enshrining deity Maa Charchika here is seated on a prostrate human body and wearing a garland of human skulls, believed to be created by Lord Parashurama. Located in a small town of Banki, the Goddess here is worshipped by many people, visiting from near, far and wide.
